Students must sort the length and distance pictures according to whether they would be measured in centimeters, inches, feet, or miles. A range of length vocabulary (width, height, depth, distance) has been used to familiarize the students with these concepts.
Some examples include:
- the length of an ant
- the distance between two cities
- the length of a car
- the height of a house
- the width of a pencil eraser.
Need an extension activity? Ask any fast finishers to research the actual measurement of some of the lengths and distances on the cards, then share this information with the class!
