Practice converting double digit numbers into their expanded form with this easy to use student worksheet.

Let’s Expand It: Double Digit Place Value Worksheet

A teacher has created this simple yet mighty worksheet for students to practice showing double digit numbers in their expanded form. The standard form of ten numbers is provided with one element or neither element of the expanded form of each number. Students have to fill in the gaps to complete the expanded forms.

Students who understand the expanded form of numbers have a deeper understanding of two-digit numbers, which inevitably makes it easier for them to read and write these numbers. By breaking down a number into its tens and ones components, children not only grasp the concept of place value but also learn to recognize the significance of each digit within a number.

Math Worksheets in the Classroom

Mixed with a range of hands-on activities, math worksheets are a staple in the classroom. Simple worksheets are a versatile tool that can be used to enhance students’ learning and understanding as well as assess students’ understanding of a particular topic.

By completing this worksheet, you’ll instantly see those students who are ready to progress and those who may need extra hands-on activities and guided teaching to help them with this concept.

You may like to use this worksheet in some write-and-wipe sleeves where students use whiteboard markers to complete the expanded forms. Then, they can wipe it clean for the next person to have a go!

Tip: get students to take photos of their completed work on their iPads.
