Adverbs and Adjectives Silly Stories!

In each blank space, students write in an adjective or adverb. Then, read their silly stories out loud! In this activity, the student will be able to choose between adjectives & adverbs depending on what is being modified.

This Silly Stories worksheet set contains five pages, each with a different narrative text waiting for your students to create interest and enjoyment by adding adverbs and adjectives.

Through completion of these activities, students will recognise how a sentence can be made more specific by adding adverbs and adjectives. They will learn to choose between adjectives & adverbs depending on what is to be modified.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

In addition to individual student work time, use this worksheet as a:

  • ELA rotation or guided group
  • fast finisher or extension activity
  • series of weekly  homework tasks to improve writing style

For students requiring more of a challenge, ask them to write their own silly story, and make the blanks for adjectives and adverbs for a partner.

For students requiring additional support, jointly construct a list of adjective and adverb examples and display as an anchor chart.
