Drag and Drop Interactive Fun – Double Digit Numbers

This simple drag-and-drop interactive activity has been created for students learning to show standard numbers in their expanded form. Designed by a teacher, this is the perfect activity to use during maths rotations or as a simple maths warm-up for students who are relatively confident with this concept.

Along the way, little brain breaks have been included in this activity to ensure students remain as focused as possible.

Double Digits in Expanded Form

Teaching double digit numbers in expanded form is an important concept in mathematics as it helps your students to develop a deeper understanding of the place value system and sets them up for success when reading and writing numbers.

Expanded form breaks down a number into its components, making it clear that each digit represents a specific value based on its position. For example, in 35, 3 represents 3- (tens), and 5 represents 5 (ones).
