Toss the Worksheet on Abbreviations! Let’s Play!

🤙🏽Calling all grammar teachers, reading specialists, and other educators! This classroom abbreviation domino game is the perfect way to help them practice identifying the correct abbreviations for commonly used words.

Don’t pass out another worksheet on abbreviations! Let your students practice the same skills with a fun abbreviation game instead. The cards feature a variety of standard abbreviations used in daily life—including Dr., Mr., Mrs., St., etc.— and their corresponding full-word forms.

🎲To play, students use traditional domino rules, matching the full version of each word with its intended abbreviation.

Through this activity, students will show an increased understanding of abbreviations in the English language. The following grade levels require complete mastery of abbreviations – 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th-grade
